AHI Nominated Among “Greek America’s Best and Brightest Stars”

WASHINGTON, DC—The Gabby Awards selection committee has nominated the American Hellenic Institute (AHI) among one of five candidates in the “Promotion of Hellenism” category. The Gabby Awards event, which will take place for the first time this year, was founded to celebrate excellence among Greek Americans and to reward those who embody it. The Promotion of Hellenism category is open to an individual or organization that has promoted any aspect of Hellenism.

AHI president, executive director attend ceremony to mark latest delivery of F-16 aircraft to Hellenic Air Force

FORT WORTH, Texas—American Hellenic Institute President Aleco Haralambides and Executive Director Nick Larigakis attended a ceremony at Lockheed Martin facilities on March 19 to commemorate the initial delivery of the latest generation of F-16 fighter aircraft to Greece under an agreement with the United States.

AHI Hosts Annual Congressional Salute to Greek Independence Day

WASHINGTON, DC—On April 1, 2009, the American Hellenic Institute hosted its annual “Congressional Salute to Greek Independence Day” at the Cannon Building on Capitol Hill to celebrate the 188th Anniversary of Greek Independence and the common democratic ideals held by Greece and the United States. The event was held in cooperation with the Congressional Hellenic Caucus’s co-sponsors, Representative Gus Bilirakis (R-FL) and Representative Carolyn Maloney (D-NY).
