New U.S. Ambassador to Cyprus Visits Hellenic House for Discussions With Community Officials

On August 9, 1999 Mr. Donald Bandler, the new U.S. Ambassador to Cyprus, visited Hellenic House, for discussions with several officials of Greek American organizations and other community leaders.

The discussions, which continued over lunch, covered the full range of issues relevant to the Cyprus problem. Mr. Bandler highlighted the importance of reaching a settlement and stressed the high priority accorded by the Administration to resuming negotiations without preconditions. Mr. Bandler emphasized his own personal enthusiasm for his new assignment and said that he looked forward to getting down to work as soon as he arrived in Cyprus later in August.
