AHI Confirms that American Express Bank Ltd. was “Inadvertently Included” on the List of U.S. Companies who are Scheduled to Visit the Northern Occupied Part of Cyprus

WASHINGTON, DC—In a phone conversation that took place late this afternoon between AHI Executive Director Nick Larigakis and the Vice President of Public Affairs for American Express Bank, it was confirmed that American Express Bank Ltd. “had never had any plan to participate” in the forthcoming U.S. business delegation trip to the occupied northern part of Cyprus on February 17, 2005.

Subsequently, in a letter faxed this afternoon to the AHI from American Express Bank it states, “while we were invited to attend, we notified the organization sponsoring this trip that we would not be participating.  Unfortunately, they inadvertently included us in the list of attendees by mistake.”
