WASHINGTON, DC—The American Hellenic Institute (AHI) sent letters to both Presidential candidates, Senator Barack Obama and Senator John McCain, presenting them with a series of policy statements regarding issues of importance to the Greek American community. The issues included:
“Our aim is to have the two candidates issue an official statement on behalf of their respective campaigns that address our core policy issues,” said Nick Larigakis, AHI executive director. “However, it is equally important to have Greek Americans from every state to also reach out to these candidates asking them the same thing. They need to hear from as many persons as possible,” continued Larigakis.
The letters were sent to the top foreign policy advisors of both candidates, with copies also going to Greek Americans who are assisting with the respective campaigns.

THE AMERICAN HELLENIC Institute (AHI), was founded on August 1, 1974, following Turkey’s invasion of Cyprus with the illegal use of American-supplied arms in violation of U.S. laws and agreements. The AHI initiated the rule of law issue in the Congress in the interests of the U.S., thus changing the face of American politics. <<<Continue>>>
